The award-winning actor has said that while success may come at a particular moment in a career, remaining relevant for decades requires discipline, consistency, and relentless hard work.

Speaking during a recent interview shared on Instagram, the 55-year-old actor reflected on his remarkable journey in Nollywood, revealing the principles that have kept him among Nigeria’s most respected entertainers for over 30 years.

Discipline Keeps You Going When Talent Isn’t Enough

Nouah dismissed the popular belief that talent alone guarantees longevity in the entertainment industry.

According to him, discipline is the quality that allows professionals to continue delivering even when motivation fades.

“Talent is not enough. Discipline is what keeps you consistent when inspiration fails you.”

He explained that while natural ability may open doors, it is commitment and daily effort that sustain a successful career over the long term.

The Public Only Sees the Success, Not the Struggle

The veteran actor also addressed what he believes many people misunderstand about his career.

According to Nouah, audiences often celebrate fame without recognizing the sacrifices, disappointments, and countless hours of work that happen behind the scenes.

He noted that many assume public recognition automatically means an easy or perfect life.

“People see success like it’s given, but it’s not. They never see the work, the efforts, the doubts, and everything behind the scenes.”

“Being relevant is harder. Success happens once, but consistency is what really matters. To remain consistent, you need discipline.”

More Than Three Decades at the Top

Ramsey Nouah remains one of Nollywood’s most enduring stars.

Born in Lagos to an Israeli father and a Yoruba mother, he became widely known in the early 1990s after starring as Jeff in the television series Fortunes. His popularity later soared through numerous romantic roles that earned him the nickname “Lover Boy” across Africa.

Rather than remain confined to that image, Nouah successfully reinvented himself by taking on more mature and complex characters while expanding into filmmaking.

His directorial debut, Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, received widespread praise and won major recognition at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Major Projects Still Ahead

Nouah continues to remain active both in front of and behind the camera.

He is set to appear in the highly anticipated historical drama 77: The Festac Conspiracy, where he reprises his role as Captain Dewa alongside Rita Dominic and Daniel Etim Effiong.

The film revisits Nigeria’s historic 1977 FESTAC cultural festival and is among the country’s biggest upcoming movie releases.

The actor is also working on an untitled historical drama inspired by the 1803 Igbo Landing story, focusing on the resistance of enslaved Igbo people who chose defiance over submission.

The project further demonstrates his growing interest in telling powerful African historical stories through film.
