The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected hoodlums during a major statewide security operation designed to combat crime and strengthen public safety across Lagos.
The coordinated exercise, codenamed Operation Ko Si Aye, entered its third phase on Saturday as police intensified efforts to remove suspected criminal elements from communities across the state.
According to security reports, the operation was supervised by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lawal Adeshina, with officers deployed simultaneously to several locations across Lagos.
Authorities said the operation began at approximately 6:00 a.m., targeting identified hotspots and boundary areas as part of an ongoing security strategy aimed at reducing crime and maintaining law and order.
147 Suspects Taken Into Custody
During the operation, officers arrested a total of 147 suspects believed to be involved in various criminal activities.
Police also recovered several unspecified exhibits suspected to be connected to criminal offences. However, authorities have not yet released details about the recovered items.
The suspects have been taken into police custody, where they are undergoing profiling while investigators work to determine their individual roles and possible links to criminal networks operating within the state.
Investigation Ongoing as Court Charges Expected
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that investigations are still underway and that every suspect will be processed in line with the law.
Officials stated that those found culpable will be formally charged in court after the investigation is completed.
The latest phase of Operation Ko Si Aye forms part of the command’s broader campaign to improve security, deter violent crime, and reassure residents through increased police presence across Lagos State.
