Obono-Obla: My faith in APC badly shaken – National Convention

Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, a former presidential adviser, declared after the party national conference that he no longer had faith in the All Progressives Congress, or APC. Obono-Obla revealed this information in a statement he released in Calabar titled “Reflections on My Party Journey.”

The incumbent was reinstated after the former chairman of the Special Presidential Panel on Recovery of Public Property under former President Muhammadu Buhari publicly expressed his desire to run for the position of National Secretary of the APC and was informed that the previous zoning arrangement was still in effect. After that, Obono-Obla expressed interest in becoming the National Publicity Secretary. However, he was turned down once more.

He added, “My faith in the Party to which I have given my all since 2013 is now badly shaken, more than ever before,” in response to the results of the national convention.

“I didn’t mind that I wasn’t given the opportunity to run for senator in 2022 by the Party. I kept up my relentless efforts to ensure its success in the 2023 state and national elections.

“I committed myself daily to using social, traditional, and new media to promote, propagate, and defend the Party and its government.” However, as I consider my next course of action, it appears that some recent Party members are making a concerted effort to drive away foundation members sadly, with the backing of the leadership.

He said that although his dedication is unquestionable, the situation necessitates serious contemplation and that the next course of action must be decided with courage and clarity.

With a hint of rage, he pointed out that the party was still fighting for recognition and importance. However, he underlined that his determination to uphold his personal values has not changed.
