Nigerian Opposition Has Collapsed: Fani Kayode Attacks ADC

Nigeria Ambassador to Germany, Femi Fani Kayode, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress as a serious opposition organization, characterising it as a party driven by a desperate desire for political power. Speaking about the state of opposition politics in Nigeria, Fani-Kayode claimed that the ADC is comprised of individuals he considers discredited and incapable of advancing the country advancement.
He also said that the opposition landscape in the country has effectively disintegrated.
The former Aviation Minister said on his Facebook page that opposition parties had failed in their basic job of keeping the government accountable, citing internal rivalries and fragmentation as major defeats.
He chastised opposition politicians for engaging in infighting rather than offering a concerted challenge, claiming that their lack of unity has rendered them ineffectual.
“I don’t see the ADC as an opposition party; I see them as a group of people desperate for power.”
“People who are discredited and have no chance in hell of taking this country forward. The Nigerian opposition has disintegrated.
“There is no opposition because they do not know how to oppose. He wrote, “How can they keep the government on its toes when they are busy bickering amongst themselves, fighting amongst themselves, and falling asleep in bed snoring?”
