Troops Foil Coordinated ISWAP attack in Borno, kill 38 Insurgents

38 rebels were killed as troops from Operation “HADIN KAI” thwarted a concerted ISWAP terrorist attack on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Mandaragirau, Sector 2, Borno. Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), made this announcement.

According to him, the assault happened early on Saturday.

According to Uba, the terrorists attacked the FOB in a “half-hearted” manner.

According to him, the insurgents were forced into a chaotic retreat as a result of the army’ coordinated offensive-defensive response.

He claimed that in order to improve precision strikes, the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI supplied air support as well as intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR).

He continued by saying that the military caused further casualties by pursuing the retreating rebels along their escape routes. Eight bodies were found in the immediate engagement area, and about 38 terrorists were neutralised.

He stated, “Human intelligence from locals confirmed over 30 additional bodies and weapons abandoned along the Garin Mallum–Garin Gajere axis into the Timbuktu Triangle.” Blood trails and abandoned equipment seen by soldiers during exploitation, according to Uba, supported the claim.

According to him, the soldiers also found a variety of ammo, four rocket-propelled grenade bombs, eight magazines, and seven AK-47 weapons.

He said that although one Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle was struck by rocket-propelled grenade fire, no soldier deaths were reported.

He declared, “The injured personnel have been stabilised.”

According to Uba, local populations were celebrating the extent of the militants’ casualties.

According to him, the event demonstrated the military’ ongoing superiority in preventing terrorists from operating freely in the Northeast.

In order to recover bodies and consolidate gains, he continued, additional exploitation operations were being carried out along the Garin Mallum–Garin Gajere axis.

According to Uba, the troops’ bravery and tenacity had been praised by the Military High Command. In the region’s security interest, he asked them to maintain the operating tempo.
