Ortom rules out contesting in 2027

Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State, has denied rumours that he intends to compete for any political position in the general elections of 2027.

His media assistant, Dr. Terver Akase, clarified the situation in a statement released in Makurdi on Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that rumours have surfaced on social media that Ortom was getting ready to run for the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the upcoming election cycle.

Ortom responded to the allegations by declaring, “I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027.” I’ve stated this often, in public, and with clarity.

“I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027,” Ortom said in response to the accusations. I’ve said this clearly, frequently, and in public.

He reaffirmed that rather than running for politics, his priorities remained advancing democratic ideals, bolstering the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and offering leadership counsel.

Ortom called the reports “a fabrication” and encouraged the public to ignore them.
