Kano Deputy Governor Explains Reason for Resignation

Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Kano State former deputy governor, has stated why he resigned. Gwarzo wrote in his resignation letter to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf that he chose to leave office freely so that the government may continue its job without distractions.
“I hereby tender my voluntary retirement from this office, effective March 27, 2026. “This decision was made after careful consideration and deep reflection,” he stated.
He explained that his actions were motivated by his devotion to peace, stability, and the overall well-being of the state citizens. Gwarzo made it clear that his resignation should not be interpreted as an admission of guilt.
“In view of the prevailing circumstances, I have taken this step in the spirit of responsibility and statesmanship, to allow the government and the State to move forward without undue distractions,” he wrote.
“This resignation is offered voluntarily and in good faith. It should not be interpreted as an admission of guilt, but rather as a conscious decision in the interest of institutional integrity, democratic ideals, and public service.”
The former deputy governor stated that the success of Kano State remained his top objective, and that stepping down at this time would help to retain emphasis on governance.
