ADC Condemns escalating bandit attacks in Katsina

The recent bandit attacks that have affected multiple towns in Katsina State have been denounced by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which calls the deaths of civilians and security personnel “alarming and unacceptable.” Speaking to reporters in Katsina, Lawal Tukur-Batagarawa, the party state chairman, expressed grave alarm about the increase in violence.

He emphasised that the latest attacks show a deteriorating security scenario that calls for immediate response, especially in the local government areas of Matazu and Musawa.

Tukur-Batagarawa claims that the attacks destroyed several homes and properties and claimed the lives of several people, including civilians and police personnel.

Additionally, he pointed out that other towns have previously reached peace deals, raising concerns about the efficacy and sustainability of such agreements.

According to Tukur-Batagarawa, “inadequate leadership and the inability of relevant authorities to provide sufficient protection for citizens” are the causes of the continuous insecurity.

“The protection of lives and property is the primary responsibility of any government, and this must not be compromised,” he continued.

The ADC expressed its sympathies to the relatives of the victims and the impacted communities, emphasising that the ongoing attacks have left locals feeling uneasy and afraid.

In order to address the security issues and bring about long-lasting peace in Katsina State, the party called on the government and security services to adopt more forceful, aggressive steps.
