Tinubu Challenges Nigerian Banks to Fund Jobs and Real Economic Growth

President Bola Tinubu has told Nigerian banks to move beyond balance-sheet growth and channel more capital into productive businesses capable of creating jobs and expanding the real economy.

He spoke at the opening of the 19th Annual Banking and Finance Conference organised by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria in Abuja.

The president said macroeconomic stability must translate into real investment, employment and higher living standards. Bankers were challenged to finance manufacturing, agriculture and other sectors capable of expanding productive activity.

CIBN leadership echoed the call, noting that improved economic indicators mean little if ordinary citizens do not feel the impact in their daily lives.

The conference continues with technical sessions covering credit risk, digital finance and regulatory expectations.

Industry executives present described the message as a clear signal of government priority for the rest of the year, particularly the need for the financial sector to turn improved economic conditions into greater access to productive capital.

The focus is therefore shifting beyond financial figures to how effectively bank lending can support businesses, create employment and produce a more visible impact across the wider economy.
