NNPC Revenue and Oil Sector Remittances: Nigeria’s 2026 Update

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited remitted ₦7.9 trillion to the federation account between January and July 2026, while recording ₦3.087 trillion in monthly revenue and ₦279 billion profit after tax in the most recent reported month.
Improved security in the Niger Delta, higher production volumes and the ramp-up of the Dangote refinery to near its 650,000-barrels-per-day capacity supported the figures.
Oil production is projected to average approximately 1.66 million barrels per day for the full year.
The contribution forms a central part of federal revenue and underpins claims that the sector is recovering after years of theft and under-investment.
Parallel private-sector oil and gas names such as Seplat posted strong first-half results.
For investors and job-seekers, the practical implication is continued capital expenditure in upstream and midstream assets, potential dividend flows from listed energy stocks and downstream opportunities linked to local refining.
Officials maintain that sustained output above 1.7 million barrels per day remains a near-term target if security gains hold.
The latest figures put the oil sector back at the centre of Nigeria’s revenue outlook, with higher production and local refining capacity offering the potential for stronger government receipts and new private-sector opportunities if the current momentum is sustained.
