Lagos Opens Applications for $5,000 Youth Climate Grants — Eligibility, Requirements and How to Apply

The Lagos State Government has launched a new funding opportunity for young people with innovative ideas that can help tackle climate change, offering grants of up to $5,000 for selected projects.

The initiative, known as the Lagos Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF), is being implemented in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies to support youth-led environmental solutions capable of creating lasting impact across communities in Lagos.

Successful applicants will receive between $1,000 and $5,000 to develop and execute projects focused on climate action, environmental sustainability and community resilience.

Lagos Invites Young Innovators to Lead Climate Action

The programme is designed to empower young people to transform creative environmental ideas into practical projects that address climate-related challenges facing Lagos.

The state’s Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, encouraged eligible youths to take advantage of the opportunity, describing it as a chance for young innovators to help build a cleaner, greener and more resilient Lagos.

According to him, the initiative is seeking bold youth-led projects capable of delivering meaningful environmental impact while contributing to a more sustainable future for the state.

To qualify for the programme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Applicants must be between 15 and 24 years old.
